Early 20XE part pricing

Postby 168 Derek S » 29 Sep 2011, 18:58

back in July I received a quote via the Opel Manta Owners Club UK parts guy who is the parts manager at a Vauxhall dealership, he has sent me some parts for my Astra in the past and they have worked out about a 1/3 of the cost of buying through my local Holden dealership, here is what he priced up for the 20XE, excluding VAT which he does not charge for orders outside of the EU and he normally charges cost to DHL to NZ.

the following was a surprise to me...

Prices for the 20xe parts

Belt Kit £91.86
Water Pump £48.52
Cam Seals £9.91 ea
Head Set £76.08
Head Bolt £3.71 each ( Must be Changed)
Bottom End Set £118.39 ( C/W Crank Seals)
Inlet valves £37.08 ea
Exhaust valves £59.21 ea (sodium Filled)
Valve Springs £5.69 ea
Core Plugs 36mm £1.26 ea or 34mm £1.10 each. Need to measure what you have as they have a mix of sizes on these blocks
Con Rod Bearings £36.98 per rod
Main Bearing set £32.09 per cap
Thrust bearing £53.68

Problem is QED don't give any info on the alterrnative parts - you don't know what you're buying.

could say the same about the SBD site, I always e-mail them to confirm before buying anything off either of them.

9 time out of 10 QED have been able to supply me with GM original parts in sealed bags or boxes
