Auto Spectacular, Dunedin, with photos!

Just a quick heads-up about the Auto Spectacular which is at Dunedin on 1st October this year.

Thankfully it is later than the usual June date when the venue is perishing cold and everyone was huddled around the braziers dotted round the place. A good selection of cars to be seen, so who is interested in being there?

No charge to display, but they usually want the cars in position the night before, so it means overnight accommodation for out-of-towners.

Let me know if you are interested by responding here. Hopefully some of the Christchurch members will be happy to show up down south, and escape Christchurch for a while?

Just so you all are aware, the date has just been confirmed by the organisers as 1st October, not the 8th. I've changed the title accordingly!

Ok, will be down to how many Christchurch/Canterbury members are prepared to come down for a change of scenery for the weekend, since Ken can't manage the new date, and it's just Ryan and myself at the present time!

Ryan's Monza sold back to the original owner, Bev, down in Invercargill. Hmm, wonder if she fancies bringing it along for the show....

With Ryan's grey GSE, mine, and maybe Bev, we just need Mike and Matt to bring down their pair of white Monzas for an impressive fleet. How about it? Any other cars are of course welcome, but we are limited for space, so please let me know if you are planning to come.

Bev has said she would like to attend, and bring along her Monza.... one more, hurray! We can have access to Graeme Saxton's white Calibra too, if we need to make up numbers - max 5 cars on the stand 15m x 7.5m.

I've got an Opel and a GM flag plus club stickers to put on each of the cars. Will just have to see what else I can rustle up in the way of Opel display information before the show.

Supposedly there is a 'Movies theme' for the club stands, but I think just getting enough cars there will be a big enough challenge ....... how about "Mission Impossible"?

The cars need to be on the stand by 8pm on the Friday night, so if travelling down you will need to get transport between venue and wherever you are staying. The show starts at 8am on the Saturday 1st, through to 4pm.

Car display is free, $10 entry fee adults, child 5-13yrs $2, under 5 free, family (2 adults, 2 children) $20.

There may be room to display some car spares for sale on the stand if you have something to sell.
