 $1000! That's pathetic!

Blackwells in Chch used to be Opel agents, but whether anyone is still there who knows what Monzas are, is going to need some checking. I went to a local car dealer who came from UK, and he knew of Opels, so was able to give a more realistic price!

Don't know Omegas so can't help you there, but Lindsay may be able to, if you PM him?

Have you checked Australian Autoparts in Chch for the foglights as they have had Monzas in the past. Not the cheapest, but worth a try. Otherwise you might PM Ryan in Dunedin to see if he needs those on that Monza front end he is buying.

Classic Cover here in Hamilton, but they will help you out NZ wide.

I had a similarly stupid valuation done on my Omega GSi. Granted their value isn't that high in NZ, but if you are to justify insuring it at all then it has to be for a reasonable figure in my opinion.

AA and State put it between $1000 and $2000, but didn't have the GSi or 3000 24V registered on their database so that was only for a 2600.

I went to classic cover saying I wanted to ensure it for $4000. They made me send in some photos and additional details, which they forwarded to a "car enthusiast" to verify its "unique" status. He was happy with the car and they agreed to insure it.

The premiums are very low, but their whole view point is around insuring the "weekender" if you like. They put km restirictions on your car (5,000 or 10,000) and vary the premiums accordingly. They also ask you to park it in a garage and assume that this is not the "shoot down to the shops for the groceries" type vehicle.

For the $4,000 insurance value I was only paying around $180 a year.
