South Island meeting, now 12 December!

For non-technical car discussion and general banter and jokes. Keep it clean(ish).

Sounds good Neville I'm still going up.

Remember sunscreen, hat and sunnies if it's hot you'll need it.

Is there a time we will aim to meet at the track? racing start's at 10.00.

Ok, I won't have the chance to check this again before I leave tomorrow morning, but you can contact me on the mobile 027 6883748 if necessary.

I haven't had the chance to get another bbq, and no-one else has offered one, so there will be mobile food outlets around the site. Bring a camera, and come along to have some fun!

Apologies to anyone who didn't get the message that the event was on Sunday instead of Saturday! I tried to call everyone I could think of, that I had previously spoken to about the event.

Ok, the day was hot and sunny .... and we had a record number of eight club cars turn up which was terrific, along with about 20 family members. 8)

There was probably no more than 200 spectators so we were able to get all the cars in a row together, which I was concerned might be a problem otherwise.

Welcome to new members Owen and his wife in the very nice Manta hatch which looked as tidy under the bonnet

...also Jack and his wife in their Senator B, a first club outing of any sort for them! We hope you weren't disappointed!

Ken from Dunedin came up with his young son in his smart Vectra 2000 GSi, a real bargain when he bought it for a mere $550!
Image

and Peter's Kadett GSi was also looking smart, having had time spent on it since the Winchester event earlier this year, when he had just collected it

More to come

Thanks Ken. I'm pleased that everyone seemed to be enjoying the day out. Your wee son was a real little champ too, keeping himself occupied while all the adult were talking!

Here's two pics of us lining up to go out onto the track, but I'm still waiting for some more from Owen who took some of us going past on the track. The Rover SD1 at the back belongs to Kelvin from the West Coast who was unable to get his Monza (originally Peter Parker's/formerly Michael's) ready in time to bring. He hopes to bring it to the next event.

I should have let you go in front, Ken, since you've probably got the most track experience, to show the lines required to go round corners. Next time? I thought it was priceless your son asking why you weren't overtaking anyone! Another reason to let you lead next time?
