Vectra GT sold 200016v in it's place

Postby 033 Ken » 08 Sep 2010, 18:24

Just sold my vectra GT lift back a nice young girl in kiapoi christchurch bought it ..... well her Dad picked it for her (good Chap) I left the opel forum sticker on the back, so we may end up with someone a bit better looking on here lol.

I picked up a tow bar in christchurch a couple of weeks ago with a vectra 2000 16v attached to it for................................................$550 a good price I thought  It had some issues noisy around the cam belt, it was replaced a year ago but as it turns out I drove it back from Christchurch with 16 teeth left on the belt! The garage who did the job put the square tooth water pump on instead of the round tooth waterpump. My Mechanic said "you have the luck of the irish" I was lucky it didn't break. The exhaust needs some work a wheel bearing and then it's a minter well not quitebut getting there. I'll put some photo's up in the weekend.

Hey nice find!
You're no stranger to 20XE powered Opels but those NZ spec Vectra 2000's are particularly nice. I had one, sorry I sold it now, but the alternative was chopping it up for spares which I am happy I did not do.
Sounds like theres not much work to do on it too, it mayhas the noisy lifter issue (ticking when cold) if it's done higher k's, I found a rather easy method of cleaning the lifters which sorts them out nicely, just let me know and I'll post instructions of what I did. My lifters went noisy after I lost oil pressure due to a ruptured oil cooler line

Fantastic! Another one saved.

Glad to hear that you managed to track one down and indeed purchased it. I'm beginning to realise that the "25" that were rumoured to be registered in NZ can't be true, because I know of 5 or 6 now that have been murdered and around the same amount that are still floating around, just from hearing people mention them or seeing them on TM etc. There must be a fair amount still around.

Looking forward to seeing pictures too.
:D

Also, if anyone reading this is interested, I may know of a Vectra 2000 front cut with engine, loom, ecu, gearbox etc for a reasonable price. Hopefully sub $1000. Is in the lower NI if anyone is keen.

I would absolutely love to buy it myself, for a spare engine and box, but usual story - too many toys, not enough money.

I had that problem with one of the Calibras cambelt time did the bearings, and water pump but they put a Daewoo2.0 pump in it and before long and it was after a trip too CHCH that the noise started, and it was missing some teeth on the belt,so very lucky there garage footed the bill
