The Muscle Car Masters is fundamentally a historic touring car race meeting. They allow a limited number of road cars each year as a 'featured marque' to commemorate the link between road & race cars. This year they had about 45 cars, with the BCOAA representing 25% of that number.
As it was the 30th anniversary of HDT Special Vehicles we wanted to make it something special!
We had a cake
with John Harvey (HDT SV General Manager 1980-87, HDT race driver 1975-1986 and 1983 Bathurst winner with Brock) very kindly doing the cutting.
Kevin Bartlett was excited to see the Race of Champions car that he drove in 1980
We had a couple of parade laps
with John Harvey leading the pack in HDT SV build number 001
and Peter McLeod (Bathurst winner with Brock & Parsonsin 1987) the VL road-car versions of the race winner
David 'Skippy' Parsons (2nd at Bathust in a 1-2 finish for HDT in 1984, and winner in 1987) was scheduled to be in a VK, but other comitments delayed him so he missed the drive, but he joined us for a chat
Race drivers have never before in the history of the event driven road cars in their parade laps, & I was very pleased to be able to make that happen.
