7.1 quake shake this morning

Postby 001 Neville » 04 Sep 2010, 11:30

Well, we certainly felt the shake this morning! We're about 100kms south, and the whole house was shaking. No damage, or breakages for us, but it was certainly a new experience for me coming from UK where we didn't have earthquakes! SCARY!

Good to hear you're all good. Quite a bit of damage in CHCH.

No damage to the fleet? I know of a couple of guys who had a brick wall fall over their cars :o

No problems here, although I admit to going out to check the garage at 5am ..... purely to get a torch, of course

Been over 2,500 after shocks since then - we are soooo over 'quakes!

Have a look here:

You may have to type the URLs in yourselves to get them to work (bit shakey!)

I've been using Geonet to keep up - have a look at the earthquakes over the last ten years!

I suspect the whole Christchurch region is sliding into the sea - that's why they have so many shallow ones...
