Best put up an ad on the For Sale forum so more people see it? Pics, detail and contact.

I've seen this Vectra a few times as it used to live up on Hibiscus coast.
Its a Vectra A GT 8v, originally fitted with the 20SEH high compression motor, but it was swapped at some point in time with a C20NE  . It has some glorious bonet vents (Repco specials) that go nowhere and the motor is painted metallic hammerite blue (including the wiring). I know this because it was getting a WOF at a local shop a couple of years ago, I spotted it and went in to have a geezer.

When you put a Vectra plate into car jam it pops up with this picture.

Has to be a Vauxhall private import.

Update - the 8V GT stays for now, employment situation says no replacement, its still running well, so it a got a pair of Pirelli P6s and we continue. Up and down SH16 5 days a week. Absolutely nothing of interest seen in West or central, most (if not all) of the Vectra As seem to have gone to heaven (or equivalent). Got blarted at by a dark blue Holden badged Vectra B on Friday, some kid had attached a drainpipe, to no seeming useful effect.

Saw this Vauxhall Carlton for sale in Taupo on Trademe last year, then a couple of months later it turns up near my house!

Image

Have since seen it around in the next town along, wearing what I think are HQ Holden wheel trims.

Also, have an actual Opel, albeit a commercial; saw this Blitz at Horopito last year too:

I take it these weren't a strong seller in NZ? Surprised to see a RHD one. Maybe these were marketed in Ireland or something, as I'm pretty sure they weren't sold in the UK.

Well what find.... a 60s Opel Blitz Commercial - Its possible it was was brought over by GMs as evaluation vehicle interesting it carries NZ plates DE which would place it around 1966-1967 maybe Niks Dad would know more.. :D

I can't see any plates, Julian??? Where are you looking?

I know there is a Blitz in the North Island, but I don't think it was this one.

At the number plate that is clearly visible on the front of the truck?

There was an ex ww2 blitz in trademe years back but it was in mint condition and going for many thousands from memory. I'd like to go have a look at this. Might have a hunt around next time we do a Horopito trip.

Neville Look on the photo of reg plate on the front bumper it says DE2461 that is a New Zealand Reg plate and from my experence that relates to 1966-1967 issue My First car a 1967 MG had DN plates ; The Opel Blitz of that shape was on the market around 1962-1968 it was relaced by Opel Blitz badged Bedford CF Van in 1969-1970c !

I too am not aware and have not seen any tests of that Opel Blitz been sold in the UK market during my magazine reseach in fact I found no test to date ! Its possible its Ireland RHD or could be South Africa or even Malta who also was RHD

I need to adjust my screen contrast! The reg plate was just showing as a black area, and no letters visible! I had to take into Photoshop to make it readable.

Image

I've found the pics of the other Blitz anyway. Yes, it was the one for sale at a cool $60K! ... and was still for sale back in July when I last had contact with the owner. Has been used in movies and at some military shows.

I've invited the owner to join up but no joy so far. The truck is not NZ registered, so has to be transported everywhere on a low-loader.

Interesting you couldn't see the registration plate Neville, since it's sometimes a worry of mine that an image I post looks OK on my 4 year old laptop but potentially terrible on other people's computers.

Plus, can I lay a claim to being the only one here to have spotted both the Blitz' posted here?! Worked on a film being shot in Auckland a few months back and seemingly every WWII era truck that exists over here had been wheeled out as background filler. Took some pics of it but it was only last night I discovered that I'd unwittingly deleted the whole set of photos without backing up. Luckily, I lent my camera and cards out to my uncle a couple of weeks later when he came over for a holiday and he backed up all my images before he took any photos, so will get them back some time soon and post anything relevant in due course.

Incidentally, anyone wanting to go look at the Blitz at Horopito needs to head over to the left-hand corner of the second yard, where the remnants of Mk1 & Mk2 Escorts are stored.
