This catalogue came with my RWD exhaust manifold and my MBE 912 ECU that I'd bought off of SBD to complete my Manta's 16v conversion. I don't know why (maybe becauase these thicker blocks & cranks/rods/pistons, etc weren't cheap!) but SBD don't advertise these items anymore?? Or, Maybe these 2.4L 16v's were just a fraction to far becoming too unreliable and thus now discontinued?
Now-a-days its only places like http://www.Risse-Motorsport.de in Germany that advertise 2.3L short engines for sale for these 16v's at a cost of 3,450EUR ($6.76067 NZD). I guess 2.3L seems like the maximum reliable capacity now available.

But surely Gordo that 2.4L 16v's the Ascona/Manta 400 engine and thus based on the old CIH engine castings and not the more modern J-series family II C20XE/C20LET units....

Totally a redtop.
Aparrently a 20XE head can be fitted to an X22XE block from the ISUZU Fontera, theres a few guys on migweb discussing this hybrid which will give you a 2.2L 20xe effectively.
Some discussion on the subject: http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/engines-transmission/374978-x22xe-c20xe-hybrid.html
