I got the chance recently to view this ex dtm race car. It's in Christchurch and will hopefully get to be run at the track again soon. The engine requires a strip down and freshen up first. I'm told it's a 2.5 now. It did originally run in the dtm class with the Opel six but had an engine swap so it could race in a different class.
I'll keep you posted on its progress.

So this is the Tony Morrison car? Been trying to organise a club visit to see that and other cars he has stored, for the last five years!

How did you come across him, and finally persuade him to show off his Omega?

I meet tony through the Canterbury car club and a mutual friend. He invited me to come and have a look at his collection of cars and was quite enthusiastic to show me his Opel race car. He is keen to put together a team to help run it and wanted to know if I would be interested to help out. Unfortunately he is quite tied up with eqc and insurance issues right now so the race car is not on his priority list at the moment.

...so he has been telling me for the last five years!

I only wanted to organise a walk around the cars like you have, but he never seems to have the time :|

This thing is just so ridiculously cool. So good to see some photos of it.

Hopefully we can get to see it as a group sometime, Brad. Bit far for you to drive down for the day, but I could pick you up from the airport if you fancy flying down ;)

Thanks for the offer Neville. I'll probably accept it if he ever gets it running. Seeing this thing go around a track would be too good an opportunity to turn down. I understand he showed some interest in tearing down the engine and rebuilding it. But, as with all of our projects, good things take time!
