Fair price 5.0 V8 EFI

Postby 118 Ben N » 10 Oct 2009, 08:47

What is a fairprice for a VN Commodore V8 5 liter engine complete with everything that is needed to put the engine in a.....Monza.

I need an engine complete with extractors loom startermotor alternator and all that is needed to bring the engine back to life in Europe.

And do those engines have a TH400 transmission?
And if they do is the bellhouse only diffent on the Aus cars than on the USA cars.

And does anybody have an idea of the shipping cost to Europe (Holland)

Any particular reason you're after a Holden engine? I would have thought a Chev' would be a better choice.

You're a brave man Ben!

Depending on what you call 'all the parts you need'. I'd say about $2500, and can vary greatly from ebay to various wreckers. I was expecting to be able to drop my engine straight in, but it needs a freshen-up. Used engines are always going to be a lottery.

Transmission is a TH700. Sorry, no idea on transport costs.

Best of luck.
Cheers

I ment more the price of a complete engine with all that is needed,a whole car would cost heaps more on shipping cost and need more paperwork that a car piece to ship into Holland.

I really need a:
engine complete with starter motor loom ECU alternator extractors K-frame and a few small things.

If the TH700 is worldwide the same that that trannie i can get here on every street corner, but if the Aus TH700 has a diffent bolt patern than i need a Australian TH700 transmission.

Things like exhaust and radiator and the axel from trannie to dff are things that i can change here in Holland.

The reason i dont want a Chevy 350 is because they where never original sold/build into a Monza look a like engine room and its a bit of problem to get them in:extractors dont fit and need to be handmade,if you have a carby engine the bonnet dont close and more of those nasty things, and a chevy V8 is in carby version a shit engine after my idea at least in stock version:no horse power and huge fuel consumption, the Holden v8 EFI motors fit exact in the engine bay and have decent HP and fuel consumtion, thats the reason why i dont want a chevy engine.

But what is fair price for a V8 EFI complete engine with all those things i need?
I wasnt planning to fly to Oz and buy a complete car and ship it,that cost to much for a hobby car,but a engine is no problem,if i ship it with seamail.

I cant find much EFI V8,s on Aus ebay,i dont reallty have a view on the prices people charge for the things i need/want.
