Just received this info of a car event in Coromandel next year. Seems to be close to dates of Ellerslie/ so not sure if that is deliberate?

To whom it may concern. This letter is an appeal for expressions of interest from your club members.

We are in the early stages of planning an inaugural two-part Charity Event around the Coromandel Peninsula loop road, known as SH 25.
This event is a collective initiative being organized by Thames, Tairua and Whitianga. Starting in Thames there will be activities organized in these towns plus Coromandel, on the way back to Thames for a prize giving diner and closing ceremony. It will be known as the Coromandel Gold Rush & Gum-diggers Charity Cruise.

The dates are the 14th – 15th February 2015.
The first part will be a “Treasure Hunt” and will be called the “Gold Rush” event.
The second part, aptly named The Gold-diggers Charity Cruise will be just that; a cruise onto the next town, where entrants follow the event format laid out for them in that town and so on.

This will be a 2 day event, so entrants will need to make accommodation plans now, before the summer rush starts descending on these resort areas. Each town will have something different, but the format will be the same. The event will be an open class event, including hotrods. Registration will be $50.00 per entry, which includes the driver and passengers. All proceeds from the weekend after expenses will go to local charity organisations that don’t attract big funding.

This is just a short overview of what we have planned, there will be other events during the day, like parades, park & display with music, sausage sizzles etc. This is a real family orientated weekend, right in the middle of summer where we provide the playground and you provide the fun! There will be at least 3 major prizes distributed around the Peninsula in the Gold Rush events that needs to be won plus a host of minor prizes as well.

A “Peoples Choice” award for each category at the stop-over towns is also under consideration, so no-one misses out. Therefore, what we would like you to do for us is, circulate this event among your members to give us an indication of numbers that would consider entering so we can plan the infrastructure required.

Registration is now open and will close on the 15th December 2014. Contact Brian Stephenson, Convener & Events Co-ordinator, Thames Valley Vintage & Classic Car Enthusiast Group. For an Entry Form, email: tvvcceg@xtra.co.nz
