Apparently that's the plan. I read a speculative Australian report over the Christmas break that was saying some similar re. the sudden withdrawal of Opel from Australia. Chevrolet are pulling out of Europe which suggests GM will continue the Opel brand in Europe and they look to be strengthening the brand globally with this expansion.

Only trouble: will the public buy into it? Holden has taken Australia on a roller coaster ride with Aussie made cars in the early years (based on models from the US then the UK), Korean made Opel products in the 80's. Then rebadged Toyotas in the early 90s before rebading Opels own products. The Koreans were brought in again in the 2000's, with the odd Opel model thrown in occasionally, but now with a potential return to Opel badge engineered products again.

If I were a general buyer I would steer clear of a brand that can't even be loyal to itself, let alone the buyer!
