Atomic Fest 2013 - Saturday 19th October

The Atomic fest is coming up on October the 19th.
There will be vintage cars, food and entertainment. I thought it would make a perfect opportunity to make an appearance as a club. Auckland and northern members could meet at the Drury BP and convoy down, any central and southern members could meet us there. The show is at 11 Railside Plc in Hamilton. The Hamilton classic car museum will be making a showing and having a good number of Opels there will be great!

Ok, worth a try to show the cars there. Are you happy to coordinate? You can choose if you get the display panels from Paul, or he may like to go too ... Paul?

Just need to keep a track of panels and graphics please.

Well if everyone who is interested in joining the drive makes it known on this thread, we can lock in a meeting time. It should be a great day out and there are some excellent roads between Drury and Hamilton.

We're possibly travelling to Tauranga on Saturday for the weekend, but you are more than welcome to collect some of the display panels - they may not fit in your Vectra? I'm only 5 mins of the motorway so you could possibly call in en-route. I also have a couple of club flags as well.

The festival opens at 10am. So I'm proposing that meet at BP Drury at 9am. Arrive at the festival at 10.30am, have a look around and perhaps some lunch, then part ways.

Sounds like more of an informal meeting, so check it out this year and if any good, you can perhaps make it more of a club stand next year?

I'm really not sure if it is the sort of event for a club stand, I will however do a recce to assess it for next year. I'll post photos when we get back :D

Mainly it will be a great excuse to take one of the scenic routes down to Hamilton, perhaps through the Tahuna hills and past Kaimai cheese. There are some lovely driving roads through there.

Looks like it's just me. I am going to enjoy myself regardless.

Sounded like Derek was keen to go, earlier in the thread?

My prior appointment has changed somewhat, so I might be able to make it along for a look. Maybe give me a text tomorrow Chad?

So the festival itself was a complete let down. It was effectively the smallest flea market I've ever been to (10 or so stalls) held in the carpark of the classic car museum. The museum itself was excellent and well worth a look, the 'festival' was just marketed a lot more than it had to offer in substance.

That's interesting, sorry to hear it was a let down. I got back from Wellington on Friday but ended up doing paperwork most of the weekend. I would be keen on doing the museum trip with other members off here, I heard it's well worth a visit, lots of the American car guys go there for a cruise day.

It is the perfect destination for a drive really. Good food at the diner and cold beer in the fridge too.
