Ellerslie 8-9 February, 2014

Postby 001 Neville » 27 Sep 2013, 23:39

Received a letter through Paul for the next Ellerslie Car show.

Dear Club Secretary,

I cordially invite your club to participate in our 2014 event, at Ellerslie Race Course on Sunday the 9th of February.

This is our 41st show and will include:
• The Tour d’ Elegance (Fun Run) on Saturday 8 February, organised by Ian Grant of MG Car Club (entry required)
• Club displays and Best Display Competition (entry required), featuring this year’s theme “Back to the Future”
• The Intermarque Concours Teams’ Competition (entry required)
• The Masters’ Class Competition (entry required)
………plus
• The new Survivors’ Class Competition (entry required). Initiated at this years AGM, this class is for unrestored cars over 35 years old.
• Motorkhana organised by Darryl Bretherton of MG (entry required)

I presume everyone was happy with the event, and the general location next to the Vx club? If we can get in early enough, we may be able to get more space. We'll just have to get there before them and spread out on their space this time!

If anyone wants to enter the extra competitions requiring specific entries, then best to coordinate with Paul when he is back from UK this weekend, so we don't have a dozen individual entries when it could be as a club .....

Please reply to thread to show your interest, detailing cars to be shown and number of people.

Yes I think we can safely say Derek, Darren & Dirk.

I will check with them both.

I think being next to the Vauxhall guys was a great place to be, never miss a chance to drool over Tony's chevette.

I'll be in with the VXR.

Just to confirm the car show is on the Sunday. There is a classic car fun run http://www.concours.org.nz/funrun.html on the Saturday, so if anyone is keen to take part in that, let me know. I've done this a few times and it is really worthwhile - some cool cars ranging from Lamborghini to Aerial Atoms.

It would be good to co-ordinate so that we all do the same run.

Correct, the show is on the Sunday only.

If members also want to specify if they want to join the Saturday fun run, then perhaps Paul can submit a club group entry? Paul, is that correct, or do people need to apply for that themselves per car?

I think we need to apply per car for the fun run - but you should be OK to register early in January. I'll send out a reminder nearer the time.

OK, it looks like we need to confirm numbers for Ellerslie next week as well.

So far we have:

Paul G
Derek
Darren
Dirk
Chad
Neville

Anyone else keen to take part? 6 is the usual maximum number for cars on our stand, so anymore we'll have to ask for special permission and see if we get it ...

No cost, Sudheer, but if you could confirm what car you would bring, and that it is in good condition for showing. Need to make a good showing for Ellerslie since it is a high profile event for the club.

Don't forget you can also go to Galaxy of Cars the weekend before.
