Bonus from visit to Otago

Postby 001 Neville » 16 Aug 2013, 00:16

Came across this while in Cromwell. Looking very sorry for itself after being left for the last 6-7 years apparently. Owner decided he no longer wants it, so we agreed a price, and I collected last weekend. 8+ hrs round trip with a friend and his 4wd and trailer.

Two cylinders not looking good, but I've got the car being checked over, so hope we can get a decent engine between this and the spare Monza engine I've had in my garage for the last few years.......

I have to point out that the owner also had this Porsche (and other cars) in his storage which is the reason why the Monza had been neglected :|

A good clean will certainly help, but engine is stuffed, so getting my spare engine checked out to swap over. 115k miles on the odometer.

UK import in 1992 according to CarJam.

Spare engine is definitely looking better, so getting a proper job done while it is apart. Pistons look good, but leak test poor on one cylinder. Looking to change main/big end bearings and piston rings to see if that improves the situation.
