I've been meaning to try it out. Some friends have done wheels and panels and had really good wear out of it.
I've been considering doing my bike and clear coating it to get a nice chip resistant gloss finish.

Is this the same stuff that someone (Gordo ?) was looking at to paint a whole car? I was looking for that thread the other day.

No not me, I am doing the inside of the car with urethane deck liner, completely different product to plastidip.

I think Chad was onto this ages ago, may be something on here dating back a bit.

I did watch that YouTube video on someone doing a whole car, I have seen a VZ commode station wagon done in it, I like the idea that it can simply peel off. An interesting product.

Where did you get the Plastidip product from, Jason, since their website seems to say they will not ship outside USA?

Interesting! Good product reviews too.

Do you advise NZTA each time you change the colour of the car?
If you decide to change dip colour, do you peel off the old dip before you spray on the new colour?

Prep wise I'd wipe down the surface with something like meths. Then 3 to 4 coats of Plastidip, allow 30mins of drying time between coats and 4 hours to cure. You have the option of leaving the finish Matte or using the glosifier spray as a final coat to make it a gloss finish. You will need to peel off the previous application before trying a new colour.

I will be painting my motorcycle with Plastidip this weekend. I'll put up some pics when I'm done.

So I went ahead with painting the bike yesterday.
Stripped it down, rubbed down all the panels with meths, 3 light coats of Plastidip leaving 30mins in between applications and she's done.
My first impressions are that this stuff leaves a definite slight texture on the surface, but for a matte finish this is probably not an issue. I didn't do any masking as you can see, the over spray could be easily peeled off about an hour after application, in all the process was easy and painless. Time will tell how the coating lasts through winter, but for a $30 paint job I am actually quite impressed with the end result.

If you're thinking of coating some wheels with this stuff I'd say go for it. Dead easy to apply, no tricks aside from the instructions written on the back of the can. It does stick to gloss surfaces 10x better than to rough / textured surfaces, also cleaning the surface with solvent before application helps too.

How thick is the coat in the end? I want to paint my textured door cards but want something that will self level and even out the imperfections a little bit. Thought this might do it?
