That looks really great, Derek. I'm sure you can get it finished in time - just cancel Christmas this year?

That colour reminds me of the 'Blenheim silver' which was a colour option on series 2 Landrover Disco's.

You can get away with painting the car in the middle of your garage without everything around being covered in the mist, Derek? You fancy coming down here with your spray gear for a visit? I've got a potential candidate, once I've finished stripping it out.

What about the engine bay? Do you remove the engine and ancillaries or cover them over?

my mate is doing the painting, he is unreal, the place just gets wetted down and he rips into it
he used to have the use of an old pig farm and did all the painting in the old pig sheds, I saw a blue Bentley roll out for there like it had just come off the factory floor.
when I liked in the UK there was a panel beater / painter out the back lane from us working in a shed worse than the one in the photos, no booth and he did a lot of awesome paint jobs on some real nice big money cars, best I saw was a Porsche 911, it was sprayed outside on a summers day, shit it looked brilliant when it was finished
my mate does have very good equipment and knows what he is doing so I am picking this is pretty important
engine bay was painted satin black and its all in there just masked up, wont be doing that on the Manta tho.

mmm the candidate looks like a lot of work, you might need imagination, a sheet of zintec and a couple of rolls of mig wire for that one

He sounds a good guy to know!

The car is actually pretty sound, bodywise, but looks worse than it is. Didn't help the gearbox was ripped out, but once I find a replacement and swap in my spare Monza engine, it'll be a big step forward. Would want to get engine bay painted while the engine was out.

The rest can wait until I've got my spare screen arrive from UK with some other parts. They're coming into Chch, so no need to impose on you for those too  It's a longterm project, but they can look like this when completed .....
