The NZ Vectra 2000 thread

Postby 026 Nik » 21 Aug 2012, 12:17

Tell us what New Zealand 2000's you know about, are they dead, live or reg on hold?

Put down the plate, colour, pic (if you have one) and history.

PP5077, Maroon, NZ new, REG ON HOLD http://www.carjam.co.nz/report/?ref=134CCF6C
I owned this car around 2003, it was a great car and I only sold it because I was offer double what I paid for it. I dont know who the currtent owner is.

??????, Blue, NZ new, DEAD
I needed a cheap run around while I was waiting for an airbag ECU to arrive for my old VR6. It was owned by a young who was heading off to Uni. Before him it was Wellington based and had rust in the rear arches and some holes drilled in the front bumper for "a cool air feed". I sold this car to my friend with the Targa 2000, it ended up being a parts car. Does anyone from Welly remember this car and the plate? Might have started with RM****?

TYRE1, Blue and sliver (orginally white), NZ new, LIVE http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=tyre1
This is my friends Targa car and promo car for his tyre store:
http://groundsky.co.nz/index.php?Action ... ntID=11076

PP9747, White, NZ new, unknown if dead or alive. Its either dead or its had a number of plate changes early in its life.
This was a GM road test car and was on the cover of the NZ Vectra brochure, it also did the rounds of the dealerships.

RC7307, Silver, NZ new, DEAD
Lovely car, served me well for a couple of years as a daily driver. Ended up selling it as it was too good to be broken for parts for my Vectra GT and I was talked into buying a newer Peugeot by a mate (never, ever again! ). Currently dead rego.

CFCSW6, Blue, NZ New, DEAD
Bought at a gas station for $500, after chatting to the bloke driving it, turns out it hadn't been registered for over a year, no WOF for ages and it only had 1st and 3rd gear. Low Km's on the motor though so I snapped it up for parts duties. Turns out a bad diff housing gasket means it had been driving with a DRY gearbox for months! Some people don't deserve cars!

PP9808
My Car is alive and kicking - Mechanically very good and legal but body needs repaint (paint seperation of the metallic paint) ; interior is coming apart and heater and air conditioning unit is stuffed!

Cars work in recent years
Re-conditioned Rank & Pionion steering - there are no spares here and besides I am told it uses a different version then standard Vectras it cost me $900! (ouch!)
Speedo Replaced at 210000km mark so it now has a 2000GLS Vecta A spedo fitted - Miles could be out by about 500 miles between fittings
When I first got it the Head Casket was replaced and cost 2K! (even more Ouch..)

I have not had the belts done ....hmm

Reg PP9808 in Maroon with light grey interior (same colouring as Matchbox Toy car issued 1990)
My car was build 1990 and was not registered until 6 months later in 1991 - Believe my car may have been a ex GM Demo - the car first owner I was told was GM who had it in first 1500km and was owned twice as personal car by owner of Robertson Motors in Palmerston North - I must go to car fax and search its ownership history

Car was brought from Karamu by local family friend and USed car Dealer Colin Burrell of Angus & Burrell Dealers (or was that My Manta which was also brought via Colin) in late 2002

There is another in the Hutt Valley like mine same colouring owned by 1 of 3 parts managers at Brendon Foote motors but in much better condition he lives in Wainuiomate (incidendly Wainui is bit of grave yard for old Opels ( I seen several Omegas down there ; years ago a US spec big Bumper LHD in black Opel Manta A!)
A light ssilver one used be around Upper Hutt owned by a Student at Upper Hutt College but I believe thats off the road and may be destroyed - According to my local GM service Garage it appears I have the only oine in Upper Hutt now!

When I lived in Wellington city there only 6 or so around - One was that Blue one that you had Nik it was owned by a Soft ware engineer who lived in the expensive supurb of Thorndon

"When I lived in Wellington city there only 6 or so around"

(Rarely rare new...because they were a good $12-15000 more then a GLS; $53000 new for a 2000 16v vs $38000 for a GLS; Dealers used then as Demo cars to sell the cheaper models like Jensen Interceptor FF was used to sell standard Interceptors in the UK)- One was that Blue one that you had Nik it was owned by a Soft ware engineer who lived in the expensive supurb of Thorndon who later moved to lower hutt
Yep the blue one was a RC reg - I do have some records some where on Vectras sighted - collected over 10 years ago but it maybe unfortunately in an old computer where i kept the box when the hard drive crashed! -One day I will get a mate to extract it.

There used to be a light Silver one in Bulls owned by someone who worked at the Cheese factory - When I used take some kids up to Hockey Practice via the schools Mini bus when I lived in the Wairarapa I used to regularly see it outside the factory in early 0s and it looked in excellent condition!

RF8209, Blue, NZ new, DEAD
Picked up from turners auctions as a de-reg'd parts car. I still have the mechanical parts that were of use to me, but they were in a sad very sad state. The car had sustained terminal damage to the b-pillar.

RM5412, Silver, NZ new, Active
Just one I saw on trademe and saved photos. Appears to be still active registration.

PS1207, Blue, NZ new, Active
This is someones off here I think, Kens? Sorry for stealing your thunder but I have a couple of pics saved of it on my computer so thought I would chuck it up for the purpose of the thread.

That's all I've got at this stage, but I can add that I have literally never seen one just driving around randomly, so I'm relatively certain there are none on the road in the Waikato. We're more of a Holden town I guess..

I believe this is my old vectra your referring to.
It was sold in April to an enthusiast on Waiheke, so not sure how it can still be found on NZ Classic Car and Classic Driver?

WC9003, Maroon, NZ New, Active
It was built in 1992 and was registered in 1992. http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=wc9003

RM5412, Silver, NZ New, Active belongs to a friend of mine and it is still active.

Did you sell it to Jerry? He runs a heavy machinery workshop / sales business on the island. He also has an Opel Tigra with a massive wide body conversion and what is probably the most highly tuned C20XE in the country.

Yeah I ended up selling for $3K with a new clutch for the Astra GTE in the garage.

Yes it was Jerry that bought it, great guy. He does know his stuff when it comes to Opels.
