I think it's a guy who came to inspect it and was very happy with it - a real good guy. He's South African and has always wanted a Calibra but could never quite find/afford one at the right time, so is over the moon to have stumbled across this one (not too many tidy redtops around). I'll be happy if it goes to him, even for such a cheap price.

Agreed. Pretty happy with what it went for in the end, but went to a new bidder and not someone who has looked at it, so hopefully they're happy when they come to get it. The guys that looked at it were good buggers and I'd have been happy for one of them to get it. Have referred them on to here anyway and hope they'll manage to get into an Opel soon!

Quite happy in the interest it had in the end, 50 watchers, over 600 views before the final bidding which took it to 875 (refreshing etc).

yes that's a great result and hope the buyer does not mess you around.

The same applies in the book of law, so no worries there. Lets just hope the buyer takes good care of it.

Not yet. We arranged for Wednesday, then get an email over the weekend saying Monday at 5pm, so go with that. After no sign of him for nearly 2 hours I get sick of waiting and give him a call and it's now back to Wednesday without letting me know :| (truth be told I was happily cutting my Vectra up in the shed, but a call, text or email never goes astray when expecting someone).

Ok, so original purchaser fell through tonight. Best intentions, but picking up a car in another city seems to be last on his list of priorities and I just can't be bothered with this.

I'd already put a feeler out to the next bidder and he was keen, at a slightly reduced price due to the muck around and I've thrown in the good door, to sweeten the deal. So hopefully tomorrow, there will be a new happy Opel owner in the country :D

It seems to bring out the worst in people, but I'm still pretty happy due to meeting the two enthusiastic guys I did meet. Helps justify the fact I've just paid $70 to deal with a load of stupid texts, questions and let downs.

met the new owner today, recognized the car as soon as it arrived on my drive way.
Damien & his son drove up from Cambridge to collect replacement instrument cluster, also managed to sort him out with a new seal for the throttle body / top hat.
Looks like the Calibra went to a good home and we might hear from Damien on here some time soon.

vauxhalls/opels/holdens of that era were notorious for having the guage paintwork cracking and falling off - you can get replacement stickers from the UK and Germany, but to get the right mix you may need to get several different sets, I did :(

Hi Derek, My calibra is now awesome with the new cluster, I also went to see the calibra at pick-a-part in Hamilton. I goy some plastic interior bits for my baby. It also has a redone plug cover which has been clear coated as well. Thanks for the heads up. There are a great bunch of blokes on here. Thanks again for all the help. Damien
