Sounds like your on the road to recovery, you doing it with the engine still in the car?

Yes, engine is still in the car, i have removed the valves today and hell, most of the exhaust valves are bent proper...... . Prepping the head for the new valves, also got that GM timing chain kit from trademe thanks Derek.

Have a very good look at the valve guides when you have the head cleaned up - there is a small chance one, or more, may have been cracked when the valves were bent. if they were cracked, it increased the chance of them breaking up and dropping debris into the cylinder(s).

could not agree more with Gordo's advise.

also please check if new head bolts are required, these are usually one shot stretch bolts. normally replace head bolts each time the head comes off.

I had a good look with extra light and no cracks from what i could see. New valves and stem seals are in and the head is ready to go back on using new gaskets and yes, i chucked away the old bols and using new bolts. Only waiting on the chain kit arrival.
