Bull?

must have been a while since you needed parts, your car still off the road?

interesting as reading through a couple of e-mails you sent me some time ago you made mention of headlights being "totally not replaceable at all" and I take it you had the same problem everyone else has trying to find the sun roof seal.

29/3/2011 "I have as spare should square lights give out (totally not replaceable at all!)"

14/10/2010 "The Sunroof was fixed he had to use a BMW 7 series seal adaptive to fit "

yes Andy clears in good, but also struggles to find some Manta parts these days, last order I had with him arrived last week as it happens, but not for the Manta but the Astra

there is a guy in Auckland (on the north shore) with a Manta thats been parked up for a while due to a smashed rear window, quote to replace $2,500.00, last time I heard from him he was looking into polycarbonate, scratching his head and saying "how much?"

Manta hatchback? Matt in Chch was selling a Manta for spares, or spares off a Manta, can't remember which. He may have a rear hatch for sale? Yes, look here .....

There was one in CHCH when I lived there 1990-1992 but then it had been scaled back as more a GM approved Motor Garage - Apparently 10 years previously it was quite prosperous.

The current principle of Blackwells when I was in CHCH was a Junior New Car Salesmen and he might still be useful in having a chat with as regard to name of the dealership i am taling about

Keep me informed how you go

Cheers Julian

Ok, Mrs Moore has had an AA appraisal done, and any minor things being sorted. She has decided not to keep the car herself, but has requested the following details be put up on here

year first registered in NZ 1987
One owner
167000km (give or take a couple of km - don't know exact as I would have to go to the garage and it's raining heaps)
Power steering and air shocks
service history I don't have other than receipts for last 12 months
It has always been looked after by Crockett Motors here in ChCh
price around $6000 negotiable

Anyone interested should contact me initially for Mrs Moore's details.

well it looks like its turned up at Turners Auctions
was shown some other pics today, not sure whats happened to the rear suspension, cracked windscreen & rear bumper looks a bit messed up.
I would agree with the auctioneers estimated pricing, but maybe someone will go nuts and pay more.
Does not stack up for me price wise by the time we get it up here - so hopefully it goes to a good home.

"..Power steering and air shocks"

Since when did Opel Mantas come with Power Steering? - Its got Rack & Pinion Steering - Power Steering was never an option unless you can retro fit one as I admit at slow speeds the steerings a bit of a bugger!

What has it gone for?

Maybe had the Corsa (Barina) electric power steering convesion done, but doubtful.
Not sure about air shocks, but it's way high at the back and has a cracked windscreen.

I had heard it had power steering fitted, but not sure of the details of how it was done.

From the picture below it appears to have a reservoir in there that could be for power steering. Easiest retrofit option in my mind would be to just chuck a Holden Commodore power steering rack in there. Probably not straight forward, but I can't imagine it would be too difficult to do.

" BMW power steering fitted, nicely done", as per the first post from Steve T's inspection.
